Alone together 😭

There were vehicles to get me to where I was going. There was money in my pocket to pay for my next cup of coffee. There were homes that would let me in and beds upon which I would lay my head and drift off to sleep.

Sometimes there were stars above me. There were clothes on my body and even more hanging out on the clothesline to dry. There were parties to attend and people to see. This is what you call life, but there is something that elevates it—something that threads us all together to create something new.

I get to the club and embrace my friend. Be still. It is love. This is LOT.

You wanna know what’s going to happen the day after tomorrow? You’re gonna wake up on a bus. It’s coming to a slow and bumpy stop. It’s the end of the line.

Your forehead’s cold from resting on the glass all night, but you know it’s warm outside. Because you’re in Los Angeles. As soon as you step off the bus, you remember everything—the way the air lifts you off your feet and cradles you to the lullaby of swaying palms and howling wolves.

You can’t remember how long you’ve been gone, or if you ever left. Before you check into your Airbnb or hotel or Ark or whatever you booked, you take another long breath in and out. You feel weightless. Of the things you packed and the things you didn’t. Of the distance ahead and the distance behind you. Of the things that will change and the things that won’t. And for whatever it’s worth, you feel you belong.
